Ugo Sébastião , Matisse Mesnil , pal project is delighted to present a duo show between the artists Ugo Sébastião and Matisse Mesnil. A dialogue is created between the pictorial incarnations of Ugo Sébastião and the metallic works of Matisse Mesnil.The dialogue between the artists gives rise to an in-depth reflection on materiality, space, history and the perception of our world. Ugo Sébastião ambiguously explores the embodiment of his condition through painting, revealing the performative limits of anachronism. His artistic transformations, influenced by Baroque painting, re-articulate the conscious use of the pictorial medium and its contemporary resonance.For his part, Matisse Mesnil questions the Albertian paradigm of painting, putting into the light the frame rather than the work. His exploration of the margins reveals a subtle industrial aesthetic, in which metal becomes the medium of choice.
