Le Prix Coup de Cœur 2019 Mécènes du Sud goes to the "Résidus Danses" project led by
Pierre Clément, Antwan Horfee and Nicolas Momein.
"Résidus Danses" is a six-handed project, bringing these three artists Pierre Clément, Antwan Horfee and Nicolas Momein together for the first time. The idea behind this collaboration is to put themselves in danger, to leave the comfort zone in which the artists find themselves in their individual artistic practices. Indeed, "Résidus Danses" consists of learning a technique, ceramics, that none of them already knows, and creating works that are common to all of them, and specific to each of them, using this technique.
This approach means that the collective will evolve in an uncertain creative environment that will be defined as their collaboration progresses.
In order to do this, they will be welcomed in residence at the École des Beaux-Arts de Sète for two periods, one week at Easter and one month in the summer of 2020, in order to benefit from the availability of the school's ceramics workshop and the knowledge of the teaching staff.
"This residency in the ceramics studio will allow us to become novices again and rediscover the primitive sensations of our artistic practice.
At the end of this residency, "Residus Danses" could take the form of an installation where the three artists would merge into one, all the elements would be conceived as a whole, and would integrate different techniques and games with ceramics, sculpted figures in earthenware, a virtual reality intervention, a 3D capture of the environment...
