Matisse Mesnil takes over the Capsule at the Centre Pompidou-Metz.
The Centre Pompidou-Metz presents
Self-Service Writing, a solo exhibition by Matisse Mesnil, an artist represented by the gallery. On view until April 21, this immersive installation transforms the Capsule into a metal-clad alcove, where visitors are invited to leave their mark by engraving directly onto the walls.
Working with industrial techniques such as welding and grinding, Matisse engages in a dialogue between gesture, material, and space. Here, the act of marking becomes a collective experience—a layering of traces that evolves over time.
A participatory work where each visitor’s passage becomes part of the site’s memory, turning the Capsule into a space for experimentation and free expression.
