BIOGRAPHIE
Pedro Matos est né en 1989. Il vit et travaille à Lisbonne. Il s’est formé à Central Saint Martins University of Arts (Londres) et à AR.CO – Centro de Arte e Comunicação Visual (Lisbonne). Le travail de Pedro Matos se construit sur la porosité présente entre l’abstraction et la représentation, l’une toujours au bord de l’autre, pour investir un sentiment contemplatif. C’est cette matière du réel, sous estimée et négligée qui devient relique de l’ordinaire. Paradoxalement, ce n’est pas d’après le motif mais d’après image que le geste pictural excède le temps qui s’est engouffré entre le geste initial fugace et son image capturant sa détérioration, déjà abstraite. Ce qui pourrait paraître hésitant entre le figuratif et son opposé se résout dans une peinture au sentiment plus métaphysique.
