ENSAV La Cambre, Brussels
Pedro Ruxa (b. 1993) has been living in Brussels for several years where he studied at the Painting Workshop of ENSAV La Cambre. His painting claims to be an emotional and sensitive painting, both of which can be observed in his pictorial gesture and the themes he investigates, which are often rooted in personal experience and daily life. Shapes, colours, materials, but also letters, words and quotations contribute to articulate a polymorphic and composite language that aspires to convey an impression or an emotion more than a meaning or a restrictive message. In Ruxa’s work, words are painted in a way that is both plastic and pictorial, vibrant and radiant, warm and luminous, hence, standing out from the dark silence of the black backgrounds. One could also observe their ephemerality, as if Pedro Ruxa wanted, in a retinal way, to express their elusiveness to us.
