Mateo Revillo, represented by pal project, recently unveiled his latest creations at the Filles du Calvaire gallery as part of a group exhibition curated by Yvannoé Kruger. His new series of works was showcased in the collective exhibition "Le Citron est la Fleur la Plus Sincère," bringing together 20 artists from Algeria, Ukraine, Turkey, Georgia, Spain, and Japan. From December 2, 2023, to January 13, 2024.
"The exhibition 'Le Citron est la Fleur la Plus Sincère' is the culmination of a journey, embodying a celebration of the humble yet perhaps most inspiring citrus fruit. This is not an exhibition where one whispers and admires silently. It is rather a bold statement, a defiance of convention, where the humble lemon becomes the unlikely hero of a global artistic narrative.
This exhibition stands as a sanctuary of the unexplored and an anthem to emerging art, exploring the multiple facets of this seemingly simple yet influential fruit. The humble citrus reveals itself under unexpected lights, both as fruit and the sun, becoming this golden treasure that laughs and cries suspended in the branches, and transforming into the guest of honor. Through this exhibition, the lemon transcends its everyday status to become a central character, a muse that inspires and provokes. The essence of the lemon is found in various works, ranging from the subtlety of classical still life to the boldness of more experimental installations."
