Matisse Mesnil at Collection Lambert in “Revenir du présent : Regards croisés”

Matisse Mesnil, currently exhibited at pal project until February 24, 2024, is about to unveil his works at Collection Lambert in Avignon. His work, marked by an exploration of forms and materials, naturally finds its place in this large-scale exhibition, reflecting the diversity of contemporary artistic expressions.

Collection Lambert in Avignon and POUSH join forces for an exhibition showcasing the works of around forty resident artists from this vibrant artist hub in Grand Paris, right in the heart of the papal city. Organized through the cross-perspective of a contemporary art center and a collective artistic creation space, 'Revenir du présent' is conceived as an echo chamber resonating with works from a multitude of artists, witnessing art in the making here – in France – and now.

About Collection Lambert

A contemporary art center initiated by art dealer and collector Yvon Lambert, who donated an exceptional collection of major works from the 1960s to the present day to the state, Collection Lambert unfolds within two majestic 18th-century private mansions in the heart of Avignon's museum district. Directed by François Quintin, the institution permanently presents masterpieces from its collection as well as original temporary exhibitions by contemporary artists, offering a creative and engaged cultural program for all audiences.

For several years, Collection Lambert has attached particular importance to supporting emerging creation, especially artists from the Sud Region. Since 2023, students from the École Supérieure d’Art d’Avignon present their final diploma in the art center's rooms, followed by a group exhibition dedicated to them. In the same year, about thirty regional artists were invited as part of the Rouvrir le monde residencies, and four in the Résidences en territoire program. Two young artists from Vaucluse were entrusted with a solo exhibition as part of the Rendez-vous program, Sous-sol (Stéphanie Brossard and Delphine Dénéréaz). To further develop this support and open its doors to emerging artists from all regions of France and abroad, Collection Lambert has been associated with the Viva Villa! project since 2019 and is now partnering with POUSH for the realization of the exhibition Revenir du présent. By engaging with emerging artists in this way, the Avignon art center follows in the visionary footsteps of Yvon Lambert.
